Recap of the day and what we learned.

Crater Lake National Park used to be Mount Mazama. It erupted and fell into itself and made a caldera. The caldera filled with water which took 250 years and made this beautiful lake.
Theodore Roosevelt made Crater lake into a National park which is why it has stayed so nice and will stay that way for a long time to come.
At Crater Lake we can go to the Visitor center and look out on the lake and even read some information about the lake like...
How the lake was formed.
What the eruption did to the land around the lake.
How later, smaller eruptions made Wizard island.
How the phantom island is the old core.
And lastly that there is a tree, the old man of the lake that has lived in the lake for a very long time.
All these things put together tells a part of Crater Lakes story and shows just a little bit of the beauty and history behind Oregon's only National park.
